How to perform a hard refresh in common web browsers

A hard refresh clears your browser cache for a specific page, forcing it to load the most recent version. This is different from simply clicking the reload button, which does not clear the cache.

Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge

WindowsCtrl + F5
MacCmd + Shift + R

Firefox

OSShortcut
WindowsCtrl + F5
MacCmd + Shift + R

Safari (Mac)

  1. Go to Safari → Empty Cache (or press Opt + Cmd + E).
  2. Refresh the page with Cmd + R or the reload button in the address bar.
