Share Link Embed

All app features used before May 14, 2024, that were named 'Microsoft 365 Office Embedded' are now named as 'Share Link Embed • Microsoft 365'

Share Link Embed allows a user of Microsoft 365 to take a share link from a file in Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online & OneDrive for Business and embed the file in monday.com using the link supplied by Microsoft 365.

Available in:

  • Board views
  • Item views
  • Dashboard widgets
  • Workdoc widgets

As this is a historical feature of the app, we instead recommend use of the Secure Embed view, as the name suggests, it is more secure.

How it works

In Microsoft 365

Share a PowerPoint, Word, or Excel file using the Share button and copy the link.

Share an Outlook calendar:

In monday.com

Board views and dashboard widgets

  1. Add Share Link Embed • Microsoft 365 app feature
  2. Paste the Copy Link URL into the Share URL field in widget settings

Item views

  1. Open Item View sidebar, select Add View
  2. Add Share Link Embed • Microsoft 365 app feature
  3. In Settings, select the column for URL paste
  4. Paste the Copy Link URL into the column for the board item

When to use

  • When you want to share a link with anyone
  • When the file can be displayed publicly

When not to use

  • When the file must remain completely private
  • When you wish to share a folder and its content
  • When there are strict access controls on the file or folder

Use Secure Embed instead.
