Background
Automation blocks can be thought of as the "if..." (trigger), or "then..." (action) part of sentence-based automations.
They were introduced in early 2025 as part of the newer and more adaptable workflow feature in monday.com
The workflow feature is available for the following monday.com plans:
- Enterprise plan - unlimited workflows
- Pro plan - only 5 workflows, so this gives you an idea of what you are missing on the enterprise plan
Since April 2026, the automation engine in monday.com now also uses the same automation blocks as the workflow feature.
How are automation blocks supported in the Microsoft 365 integration?
Automation blocks extend the app's automation capabilities. Unlike legacy sentence-based automations, automation blocks support external system connections, multi-user sign-in capabilities within a single monday.com account, and greater flexibility in combining triggers and actions.
Which recipe sentences have been converted for use with automation blocks?

How do automation blocks access Microsoft 365 data?
Workflows use the credentials feature for a user to access data within Microsoft 365.
